SUMMARY:PCS Reserve Disbandment Prade
DESCRIPTION:Most of you will be aware that the PCS (Reserve) element will disband next May.  The notice below gives details of the disbandment parade to be held at Prince William of Gloucester Bks\, Grantham.  As 871 PC Sqn will re-role\, the only unit to actually disband is Hartlepool based 883 PC Sqn and the parade is likely to be centred around them. \nThe Reserve element of the PC trade is being removed from the ORBAT by MAY 2023\, 883 Sqn will be disbanded and 871 Sqn will re-role as a transport squadron under 151 Regt RLC the remainder of PC Ops will hopefully re-trade to another RLC unit. The Parade will we held at Grantham Station on Saturday 24 September at  1400Hrs. The Parade will celebrate 140 Year of continual TA / Reserve service as well as a flag lowering ceremony for the removal of the PCS Trade from the Reserves and a disbandment parade for 883 Sqn. \nThe Commanding Officer is very keen for as many Ex Posties to attend on the day. DESCRIPTION:REA PARTICIPATION SAPPER GAMES 2023. \n1. Introduction.  2023 will be the first year that REA members have been eligible to take part in the Sapper Games.  Below is the outline detail required for REA members to compete and represent the REA! \n2. Outline.  The Field Army’s Sapper Games Instruction has been released.  Whilst there is some relevance in the document it shouldn’t be used and neither should the Sapper Games website which does not account for REA participation.  For example the REA is only eligible to compete in certain sports\, this detail is not in the instruction. \n3. General.  There are no entry or insurance fees\, this is covered by the REA\,  but to be eligible competitors must be under the age of 69 and be a veteran (insurance criteria). The competition days are the 4th\, 5th of July. REA competitors do not need to attend for the 4 days that are advertised.  REA competitors can simply turn up\, compete and leave or stay around for the evening social events which are taking place on Brompton Barracks (3rd\,4th\,5th July).  But individuals must register as an REA competitor to gain access to the Barracks.  If they do not they risk being refused entry – an REA membership card does not grant access to the barracks.   \n4. Accommodation & Feeding.  REA Competitors are to be aware that they are responsible for their own accommodation and feeding arrangements.  Food can be purchased from food stalls situated on Great Lines and in Brompton Barracks.  There is no accommodation available on Brompton Barracks and Kitchener Barracks does not exist anymore.   \n5. Participating.  Teams will be filled on a first come first served basis. DESCRIPTION:2023 marks 70 years since the signing of the armistice that bought about an end to military operations during the Korean War. 60\,000 service personnel from across Britain and the Commonwealth saw action during the Korean War\, with 1\,100 losing their lives.  \nThe Royal British Legion will be marking this important milestone in an often-forgotten conflict with a special service of remembrance at Horse Guards Parade on Thursday 27 July from 11am. The event will focus on telling the story of the Korean War through the testimony and memories of the conflict from those who were there\, as well as looking to inform and engage the wider audience and attendees about a war which never truly ended.    \nAttendees/Eligibility   \nKorea 70 is a ticketed event open to British and Commonwealth veterans who served in the Korean War\, bereaved family members and their descendants (spouse\, partner\, or family members). The surrounding event expo area will be open to the wider public.  \nWe want to share the story of the 70th anniversary of the Korean War with as wide an audience as possible. Where previously invited guests/veterans would bring a single guest\, we encourage you to bring your friends and family members with you to this event. You will be able to request up to three guests when event registration opens in April.  \nRegistration  \nAll eligible attendees will need to register their interest to attend the event by following the link below and completing and submitting the Register your Interest form. DESCRIPTION:From the 2018 Field of Remembrance: \nHis Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex opened the Royal British Legion’s 90th Field of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey on Thursday 8th November 2018. \nHis Royal Highness arrived at the Field of Remembrance\, on the Abbey’s North Green\, shortly before 11.00am and was greeted by the Dean of Westminster\, the Very Reverend Dr John Hall. \nPrayers were led by the Dean\, who said: \nFor the 90th time at the Field of Remembrance we meet again to remember those who gave their lives in the conflicts of our time that we might enjoy freedom and peace.

SUMMARY:Armed Forces Day 2019
DESCRIPTION:Armed Forces Day 2019 will be held in Salisbury\, a city steeped in military history. The event\, which will be the eleventh Armed Forces Day\, will be hosted by Wiltshire County Council with support from the Ministry of Defence \nSalisbury has many links with the military. Following the nerve agent attack in the city in March 2018\, military teams worked tirelessly\, alongside the emergency services\, to support the recovery of the city. It is also home to many Army bases including Bulford Camp\, Tidworth Camp and Salisbury Plain\, one of the UK’s biggest military training areas. \nEvents are to be held across the UK to mark Armed Forces Day\, as well as the national event in Salisbury.

DESCRIPTION:Brockford Station\, Wetheringsett\, Stowmarket\, Suffolk\, IP14 5PW.\nTel: 01449 672 670. \nRecreating the atmosphere and scenes of World War II\, featuring wartime displays\, reenactment demonstrations and military vehicles\, this year’s event will see an expanded range of displays for visitors to enjoy such as military encampments\, battle scenes as well as a number of displays dedicated to how people lived their lives on the home front. There will also be music and dancing from the Brown Penny Club swing dancers\, as well as unlimited rides on trains with two locos in steam. \nThis year we will also welcome back the RAF’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (TBC.)
