Recollections from Gordon Ronald Wardell (Reg)
The latest Posthorn brought back loads of memories for myself.
I joined Postal at 16 PTS KNIGHTSBRIDGE in January 1950.
In March 1950 I was posted (First Posting) to Bad OEYNHAUSEN. I was met there by a L/Cpl Pete White (a national serviceman) from Thetford Norfolk. He asked my name and I said Gordon to which he replied there was already a Gordon and as I would be working in the Registered Letter Enclosure I would be called Reg.
After this first posting I served all over the world including North Africa, Jordon, Cyprus, Naples, Rheindahlen, RAF Laarbruch, RAF Eindhoven, and spent my last three years in the Army at AFCENT (Brunsum) Holland.
I left the Army 38 years ago but I am still known as Reg (to all) including family.
Is there anyone out there who either SERVED or REMEMBERS myself or 16 PTS Knightsbridge or has any photos to show.
